This 1.2 km photovoltaic sound barrier protects the nearby Freising from the noise produced by the highway, while generating electricity for the grid. This EU-funded experimental project used special ceramic modules to provide sound insulation (500 kW). A total of 6,750 ceramic modules and 1,080 standard grid-supply modules were fitted.
