SET For 2020: Establishing the Solar Europe Initiative

11 February 2009, Brussels, Belgium

On 22 November 2007, the European Commission proposed a Strategic Energy Technology (SET) Plan including the setting up of a Solar Europe Initiative (SEI), to be defined by the European Photovoltaic (PV) Industry. In Spring 2009, the EU Heads of State will officially endorse the 6 industrial initiatives included within the SET Plan.

The conference proposed by EPIA and the European Photovoltaic Technology Platform presented the objectives and priorities of the Policy, Technology and Communication fields defined by the Photovoltaic Industry. These priorities will be key towards the establishment of the Solar Europe Initiative.

The purpose of the conference was to present how the industry could reach the target of producing up to 12% of final electricity consumption by 2020.

This event took place within the frame of the European Union Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW 2009) in Brussels and more than 140 people attended the conference.
